Hi All,

Thanks for all the comments. Please find some responses below.

This should be possible by clicking and dragging on the area immediately above the "Mutli Quick Picker" title bar - it works for me. I'll look into how we can make that area stand out more.

Currently no, there's no way to delete a DMX network connection. As a workaround you can un-assign it by typing 0 in the DMX Universe column. Bug 2604 for Jands reference.

When i set a delay on the intensity fade up in the live time custom settings, the delay doesn't occur when i pick a preset or extract. how come??

Definitely a bug - it seems the delay settings in the Live Time dialogue are being ignored. Bug 3860.

I cant do a button too be on/off? Latch? Is it gone?

It's not there yet, but it will return soon. Bug 3428.

I was hoping to find a way of using the Multi Quick Picker to trigger cuelists in the same way as it recalls presets, groups & FX (since it now has a drop-down option for Cuelists).
I think I'd better have another read of the manual as I can't find a way of using the Cuelist Quick Picker other than edit/rename/etc.

Currently you can't use the Quickpickers in this way, although it does sound like a good idea to me. Added as Bug 3861 for our reference. As mentioned by proudlight, in the meantime you could use a floating virtual console, or the playback control window.

Hmmm...

How do you get a cue list into the superplayback... Certainly not by dragging

Have not found a way yet to load cuelists onto the Super Playback directly from the cuelist QuickPicker. Very much hoping it's there, though...

Nope, there's no way to drag'n'drop a cuelist directly onto the Superplayback - you need to assign it to a regular playback and then hit the select (*) key above it. I'm pretty sure this is an oversight rather than a deliberate decision on our part.... we'll look into it. Bug 3862.

deljones wrote:
If you label a cue in a cuelist the name does not appear in the console window.. It just says "cue"

I see we've helped you out via email on this one, but for everyone else, in File > User Preferences you can change the "Item Naming Formats" of all show items. If, for example you type the word "Cue" in this dialogue, as apposed to using the $ symbol which automatically gets replaced by the real name of the cue, then the LCD's etc will only show the word "Cue".

deljones wrote:
I couldn't get snapshots to work! No matter how I tried unless I missed something. Followed the manual here. Very similar to v1 except the snapshot enable is in a cheeky little drop down menu.

Again, this has been resolved via email, however for everyone else: The way snapshots store page information has changed in Byron. In Vista 1.13, if you had stored a snapshot, and then deleted or modified the console page, when you re-apply the snapshot, the console page would be "rebuilt" to it's original state. Unfortunately this often led to problems in V1.13, and so Byron's snapshots will load the page INCLUDING any changes to the page since storing the snapshot. In this specific case, the user was deleting the page after making the snapshot, which means the snapshot was just loading an empty page.

In the fixture window when building cues a red SYNC box started flashing.

This happens anytime you're editing a cue that isn't playing back onstage (like "free" mode in Vista 1.13). Pressing the "Sync" button re-selects the cue that is playing back for you.

The only negative I have so far is that it seems some fixture types are no longer in the factory fixture file So just wondering if they will become available or will we need to make requests for them specifically I can not find the Chauvet Colordash Quad series

You should certainly tell us about any fixtures you find which are excluded from the factory library (especially if they were in Vista 1.13), however Byron also includes a much improved Fixture Editor which should allow you to create your own fixtures libraries from scratch.

I have a few colorforce 12's and since there isn't a profile for them yet I edited colorforce 48 and just removed the additional channels. I would like to control the cells individually. However, when I do all the cells for the 48 still show up. i have not found in the fixture editor to tell it there is only 2 cells. I know I can patch multiple led fixtures and then created a matrix to mimic the same thing, but it would be nice to create fixture's with multiple cells.

Definitely a bug. Thanks for letting us know. So far as I can tell the only workaround is to use a different fixture type - either another 2 element LED fixture, or just patch 2 single element LED fixtures.

Welcome! I don't know about your other questions, but it is not possible to run Vista 1 showfiles on the Byron platform.

Hello Jef,

Vista 1.13 show files and fixture files can not be used with Byron software, however it is possible to install both Vista 1.13 and Byron on the same laptop. The Public Beta Release Notes (available on the Public Beta software download page) contain details about how to switch USB consoles between the two applications. For your reference I have copied the relevant info below:

Compatibility with Vista 1.13
Vista 1.13 fixture library files and show files CANNOT be used with Byron.

Byron and Vista 1.13 can be installed on the same computer, but should not be running
simultaneously. If you intend to use Vista 1.13 and Byron with an S3, S1, M1, UD512 or E2 wing, you
will need to update Vista 1.13 to the latest release of that software (1.13.5295 or later). Please see
Appendix D for more details on switching USB consoles between Byron and Vista 1.13."

"Appendix D: Using S3, S1 or M1 consoles with Byron & Vista 1.13
If Byron is to be used on the same PC as Vista, the version of Vista must be 1.13.5295 or later.
Installations of both Byron and Vista 1.13 may be installed on the same computer, but only one can
be running at any one time.

Disconnect all Jands Vista USB devices before installing the new version of Vista and Byron. Once
both programs are installed, follow the procedures below to switch USB consoles between the two
applications

To revert a USB console from Vista 1.13 to Byron:
1. Exit Vista.
2. Disconnect or switch off any Jands USB consoles.
3. Launch Byron.
4. Reconnect or switch on the USB consoles.

To revert a USB console from Byron to Vista 1.13:
1. Exit Byron.
2. Disconnect or switch off any Jands USB consoles.
3. Launch Vista.
4. Press and hold the yellow and red modifiers on each USB console.
5. Reconnect or switch on the USB consoles.
"

Appendix D also contains additional information about diagnosing and resolving USB driver problems should the USB consoles fail to switch over using the procedures above.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

I can switch my S3 between Vista 1.13.5295 and Byron without a problem but I need to hold down the red & yellow buttons when switching in either direction.
N.B. You need to hold the red & yellow buttons down then turn the console on. Continue to hold the buttons down until the display changes to show the correct firmware loader in the top left screen, then release.

2 problems, first the major one:
My S3 connects to Byron, but is unstable. The connection turns on and off constantly.

Then there is a little annoying thing for lighting designers when renumbering channels in DMX view: first off all there should be a shortcut for renumbering instead of rightclick/meny. And the default DMX channel number is added at the end of the new channel number instead of being overwritten.

We're working on this at the moment. I've been in contact with Tech Support and I've got a new firmware upgrade to try (will let you knwo how it goes tomorrow morning - hopefully!) but it's probably best to contact Tech Support directly rather than posting untested firmware upgrades on the forum!

Hy folks,

It's been quite a while since I have posted anything. I've been pretty busy with work and my little daughter (who turns one tomorrow! ). I had a few comments / Questions. Maybe these have been asked or commented on already, so please forgive me for re asking questions that may have already been answered. I am presently using the latest public build (6889).

First thought is why does the sidebar now default to the left instead of the right like version one? I know this is nit picky, but I think this new release should be as version 1 friendly as possible.

I have not been able to resize the quick picker bar at the bottom. No icon pops up to resize.

In the console area it looks like a lot of the clip properties options have dissappeared..Are they now accessable somewhere else?? (i.e. Activate on flash, deactivate on flash, release when overridden, etc)

In the programmer I used to like the control option in the drop down menu when right clicking over a fixture to strike and douse (I know they are on the top quick buttons) but miss the option to strike and douse with the drop down menu.

In the Store window when using Shift+Enter - I found this a little more confusing then the version 1 window. For example in the upeer left corner of the window it lists the store to: cuelist 1: List then the cue number which are un editable, it took me a moment to figure out that I had to put my cuelist name in the cuelist column below. I really liked the version one way of handling this window, it was much more simple.

In the timeline window. Where did the chain command go??

I had a new user ask me the other day if there is a way to set a custom BPM by tapping a button to set it to a chase? I have never needed this myself, but was wondering if there is an option like this available?

I think thats it for now. I do love the new UI and tons of new options! You guys have done a great job as always and I look forward to this release and I will continue my mission in turning the other console users into Vista users :). Thanks again everyone!
