Hi All,
Thanks for the feedback. A few comments/questions from the shop: pyroaxel wrote: My S3 connects to Byron, but is unstable. The connection turns on and off constantly. As ROllis suggested, could you please drop us an email at support@jandsvista.com about the S3 problems you're having? pyroaxel wrote: Then there is a little annoying thing for lighting designers when renumbering channels in DMX view: first off all there should be a shortcut for renumbering instead of rightclick/meny. And the default DMX channel number is added at the end of the new channel number instead of being overwritten. You're right - Changing DMX addresses (or anything - fixture names, ID's etc) via the "List View" in patch isn't working all that well at the moment. Until this is fixed you will need to readdress fixtures in the "Table View". Logged as Bug 3355 for our reference. Geoffrey wrote: First thought is why does the sidebar now default to the left instead of the right like version one? I know this is nit picky, but I think this new release should be as version 1 friendly as possible. We know share the "Sidebar" panel between the patch window and the chooser/timeline, and in V1 the Patch sidebar was on the left, but the programmer was on the right - one of them had to give, and we figured moving the Patch sidebar by default would be better. There is an option for this - go to View > Sidebar > Dock Left (or Dock Right) Geoffrey wrote: I have not been able to resize the quick picker bar at the bottom. No icon pops up to resize. I assume you're on a T or I console - I believe the mouse pointer does change on Windows builds. The resize bar is there, I promise - it is immediately above the "Mutli Quick Picker" title bar. Geoffrey wrote: In the console area it looks like a lot of the clip properties options have dissappeared..Are they now accessable somewhere else?? (i.e. Activate on flash, deactivate on flash, release when overridden, etc) *Some* of the old clip properties have been moved to draggable button and fader actions, while others are yet to be implemented. E.g. "Activate on Flash" is now a draggable button called "Flash Submaster", "Go on fader up" is now a fader called "Intensity (Auto-Play)" and "Active HTP" is now a fader called "Submaster". Geoffrey wrote: In the programmer I used to like the control option in the drop down menu when right clicking over a fixture to strike and douse (I know they are on the top quick buttons) but miss the option to strike and douse with the drop down menu. Putting those options back into the right-click menu is on our list. In the meantime, if you hold down Shift, the strike, douse and reset options appear on the toolbar and on the last three console function keys (F10 - F12) Geoffrey wrote: In the Store window when using Shift+Enter - I found this a little more confusing then the version 1 window. For example in the upeer left corner of the window it lists the store to: cuelist 1: List then the cue number which are un editable, it took me a moment to figure out that I had to put my cuelist name in the cuelist column below. I really liked the version one way of handling this window, it was much more simple. Thanks for the comment on this. We are planning to give the Store and Update dialogues a makeover in the near future, and we will certainly take this into account. Geoffrey wrote: In the timeline window. Where did the chain command go?? Not there yet - on our list. Geoffrey wrote: I had a new user ask me the other day if there is a way to set a custom BPM by tapping a button to set it to a chase? I have never needed this myself, but was wondering if there is an option like this available? We have implemented a tap "sync" button for effects rate, and will be adding one for chases shortly. Thanks again for all the feedback! Kind Regards, Alex Mair Jands Pty Ltd |

I've been in contact with Tech Support and I've got a new firmware upgrade to try (will let you know how it goes tomorrow morning - hopefully!) Tried the new firmware this morning but still having issues with the S3. I've sent another report back to Tech Support and I'll let you know how it goes. Has anyone tried running an Artnet node from Byron with an S3 on the same PC? Just wondering if the reboot glitch is limited to the console. I think I'll have to buy one to try this out. _________________ Jands Vista S3 on Win7 PC, Q6600 quad-core @3Ghz, 2 x 22"HD Touchscreens |

One more visual issue:
In the patch/tableview the channel number is shown on top of the DMX number. I would prefer to see them seperately. |

Color scrollers: in Vista 1 all colors for a scroller is visible in the chooser/colorwheel window, but with the drawing of a wheel with 8 slots in Byron it seems that this is not possible?

I'm not quite sure what you mean, I appreciate that the DMX number is visible under the fixture label but it was the same in v1.13 and I'm not sure how else you could show the channel allocation in a visual form. Also, the List view allows you to see the DMX number & Fixture number/ID seperately. Sorry to be a pain but if we're making changes to something that I've been using happily for several years I'd like to understand why. That sounds like it might be a fixture issue. I'm not sure which scroller profile you're using but the Generic Scroller has 11 slots (including open white) but any profile is adjustable in the Fixture Editor. Just load up the Fixture Editor, find the fixture you want to modify, duplicate it (it will appear in the User Fixture Library at the end) and then open & modify. On the DMX Chart tab you can add & remove colour slots and select their colours. Hope that helps. Richard _________________ Jands Vista S3 on Win7 PC, Q6600 quad-core @3Ghz, 2 x 22"HD Touchscreens |

Thank you Richard. I made a copy of a generic dim/scroller and put in my 16 gels. I suppose it will be possible to add the actual Rosco, Apollo, GAM and Lee gels some day.
About the DMX window: I agree that we need both the channel and dmx numbers in the same square, but I find it very difficult to see the DMX number under the channel number. And this is the only DMX view where you can change several channel numbers in one operation. |

What you could do for now is use a generic RGB LED to convert the LEE filters from the Byron palette to RGB values and then enter those into the slot colour selector in the Fixture Editor. You'll need to open a floating DMX view as the palette shows RGB as a percentage and the colour selector requires the DMX values (0-255). I'll do a screen grab... _________________ Jands Vista S3 on Win7 PC, Q6600 quad-core @3Ghz, 2 x 22"HD Touchscreens |

Ah I see what you mean, maybe if the transparency of the shading was a little lighter with a stronger bounding edge for each fixture? Back to the LEE colour references for scrollers, this might explain it better... ![]() http://www.richardollis.co.uk/scrollcol.jpg Alternatively, Wybron have built an iPhone app to convert Lee, Roscro, etc. into RGB for all those with iPhones. Where are the Android & WinMob apps?!?!? Cheers, Richard _________________ Jands Vista S3 on Win7 PC, Q6600 quad-core @3Ghz, 2 x 22"HD Touchscreens |
