 Send Artnet to Same System
Hi,
We're new owners of a Byron 512ch dongle, and are pretty excited about it. However, we're having trouble with something we're hoping is possible...
We have a system, running Windows 7 64-bit. The system has (2) physical NICs: - onboard (motherboard) port, IP: 2.0.0.10, Mask: 255.0.0.0 - secondary PCI card, IP: 10.0.37.100, Mask: 255.255.255.0
Byron is running on this system, and we're able to connect it to an Art-Net universe.
What we're now wanting to do is use a MaxMSP patch to receive ArtNet from Byron, which will do stuff based on the DMX data it receives. And we're wanting to run MaxMSP and Byron on the same system.
Problem is, if we launch Byron first, then when we launch Max, Max can't bind to port 6454, since Byron already has it open and in use. And therefore, it won't receive any data from Byron.
(We've noticed that if we start listening in MaxMSP before launching Byron, then when we launch Byron and go to Connect Universes, the ArtNet broadcasters are NOT connected)
So it seems like Byron is both listening and sending on port 6454. Is there a way to disable Byron from listening, so Max can do the listening? Or is there another way to keep the port open for us to listen to the Byron data from the same system?
Thanks! Alok
