Hey all,
I'm looking for some clarification on what Artnet is and how to use it? I'm considering purchasing a 512 dongle for a small venue we have on campus. Can you use the computer's ethernet port to output DMX to a dimmer rack without having to purchase the USB-DMX adapter? What are the pluses and minuses? Thanks, Tom |

Hi Tom,
Artnet is a DMX over Eathernet protocol. You can use your ethernet port to output DMX if what you are using supports Artnet, in this case your dimmer rack. Check your dimmer rack owners manual to see if it has an ethernet port and if it accepts Artnet. If not you will have to find a way to convert ethernet to DMX or figure out a way to get DMX out of your computer. There are lots Artnet to DMX adaptor boxes out there. _________________ Jared Roman Lighting Director Buckhead Church http://www.buckheadchurch.org Vista T4 |
