Post Re: Underlay
WOW... this just keeps getting better. "Show Selected" is pretty damn slick!

As to underlays...

Personally I like multiple methods on large shows. I can see myself creating a layout that has the underlay in it and is done exactly like the plot. Which is very usefull for focusing large spread out rigs and finding conventional fixtures quickly.

I'd then probably also have another layout thats more along the lines of what Rick does. My current layouts are hybrids of both ideas. I tend to lay things out geographically, but in a way that allows easy selection.

So the question is will Bryon allow me to have two layouts both with different underlays? One with the plot as an underlay and the other with a picture of the giggling bitches club on it? (is it me or can you see LDI swag saying "Proud Member of the Giggling Bitches Club" on the front and "come see the new Byron Vista O/S at Booth #2242 and you'll be giggling like a bitch too!" on the back.

I'm very psyched for group icons. I would however like to see that go one step further and see layouts being able to be represented by an icon as well so one click of a layout icon changes the layout without having to go to a drop down menu.

I can't beleive the sheer volume of new stuff in Byron. Or that you managed to keep all this secret for so long! This must have taken quite some time to get it to this point.

Hey Nick,

You can have many layouts, each with a different background colour or image.

Layouts are now available as a single click tab (one tab per layout) down the left side.

I know, right?
I love having "view" tabs close to the screen...

But, I'm curious now, what about the quick pickers on the bottom? Any improvements on that?

And nick, I just in case this is the post that made me wet my pants after a dreadful long week. Again, thank you!

The QuickPicker has drastically been altered, as well. It will be almost entirely user definable, you'll be able to make layouts you've not even dreamed about.

Ruben,

The new Quickpicker is a great example of user feedback. As Erik mentioned it is completely user configurable. Each section can be resized, stacked on top of others (tab access) or split top/bottom like playbacks. It is possible to have anything from a single pane with tabbed access right back to what we have in 1.13 and anywhere in between.

I would mention that in addition to the big headline enhancements (command line, pixel matrix, media servers, networking etc...) these more modest type of user requested feature enhancements are throughout the console :) .

I think everyone is missing the point of Underlaying. Sure you can place your icons right over your plot and have the greatest "magic sheet" in history... blah blah blah...
But the real glory of the whole thing is that now, instead of having a little picture frame at FOH of the one you love, you can now just insert their picture right onto your console.

Seriously though, This is a truly wonderful thing.
I'm very happy to hear that it does not have to be some elaborate file type to be dropped in as the background. It would be a shame for Byron to not be backwards compatible with Napkin-CAD.

Just to let people know, the first software with icons and images on desktop is Ljokey that has this feature from the beginning.

Yo, p-dawg!

Noone has ever brought up that sorry ass excuse of a control surface in this forum and I'll appreciate it being struck from record!... I'm sorry. I hate lickjerkys and gaxxys, like you have no idea.

And, does the sir Ross and the knights of the jands table underlay come pre-installed on the board.

Can I get one autographed?

Karl, you just made my day.... and lightened my luggage too now that I don't have to carry that picture frame around.

I really hope they added the desk lock feature in Byron... as soon as anyone else on the crew figures out how to drop in a background image I dread to think what might be waiting for me on my screen every time I walk away.

The other question, which I'm not sure if it was attended to yet, is it possible to create a duplicate icon for instance if two lights are patched to one channel but are in two different locations.

I have had a mental blank as to whether this is currently possible? I've been trolling around for the past half hour now trying to see how to do this. As you can see, in searching for this, I only found this topic. May anyone enlighten me as to if/how to do this?

Thankyou, Alex.
