Any one out there running the software on those new (ish) touch screen desktop PC's where the whole thing is built into one unit
having thoughts ...... Mark _________________ Mark Wynn-Edwards - - Lighting Design for Stage and Television Web site - http://www.markwynnedwards.com Normally running a Vista T2 + M1 |

Been having similar thoughts, but one thing is bothering me :
Are those things capable of withstanding the vibrations you have in a regular concert -or (gasp) dance - situation...? _________________ Regards, DutchGuyDesign Erik Steijvers "I am not only the president of the giggling little bitches' club, I am also a member" http://www.dutchguydesign.com S3 M1 |

I used one of the HP Touchsmart 23" models for a while without any issues (I did have to install a dual boot into WinXP with beta-drivers for the touchscreen as the multi-touch Win7 driver wouldn't work in XP but that was before 5295 was released for 64bit support - works fine now though), very reliable and certainly capable of running full 16 universes over artnet+S3.
The only downside (and the reason I built my own system) was that it didn't have a monitor output socket to run a 2nd monitor. In fact, I haven't come across any that can run dual screen yet. I wanted to use a virtual E2 on a 2nd touchscreen to expand the S3 so I built a standard Q6600 Quad-core PC out of spare bits & added a couple of Iiyama T2250MTS 22" HD touchscreens (they're only about £200 + VAT) and stuck it in a little rack. I appreciate that it's a less elegant solution & not as portable but it's a lot more versatile (especailly with Byron! - workspace of 3840x1080 and 37" x 10.5" of touchscreen goodness!) i run vista perfectly fine off a tablet laptop....basically turns my m1/s1 into a T2 with one less playback group
way less $$ too...plus i can split it up if necessary as for a desktop, that's actually the next plan...desktop + roadcase w/ a touch screen + 2 M1s + S1 but that's a ways off, need clients with more $ first _________________ James Feenstra Freelance Lighting and Media Designer |

Hi Everyone,
Seems to have been about a year since my last post! Sorry!! My S3s both run on Win7 PCs (either all-in-one touchscreen systems or rack-mount server with Multi-touch touchscreens attached) and I use a Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet running PocketCloud to access the Win7 Remote Desktop feature. That gives me full remote access of the desk over 802.11n without installing any additional software on the system. Also, by not installing 3rd party apps on the system, I haven't had a single Windows system crash since I built the first machine 3 years ago. _________________ Jands Vista S3 on Win7 PC, Q6600 quad-core @3Ghz, 2 x 22"HD Touchscreens |
