So I've been out of it a bit. All shows I've done on Vista lately have been either older showfiles only slightly tweaked, or conventionals-only theatre stuff. But I'm now back working on new stuff, and creating (specifically colour) presets is driving me up the wall.
I've made a patch with VL3500 Spots, VL2500 Spots, ColorCommands and VL500D's. I started building colour presets by selecting and manipulating one VL2500, as it has the most fixed colours to choose from. Select fixture, set the colormixing system to white (Hue 00, Sat 00, Val 100), switch to colour wheel, select colour, create preset with "same fixture" and "global" checked. The resulting colour preset works over all fixtures, snapping the colour in the VL2500, and mixing in a close match on the rest of the fixtures. So far so good. Next I do a bunch of mixed colours: select the VL2500, set colour wheel to white, mix desired colour, save preset as "same fixture" and "global". Resulting presets mix in colour fine in all the VL2500 spots, and turn all other fixtures white. Wait, what...? Why? Then when I try to correct the presets by manually adding values for the VL3500's and updating the presets, the end result is still presets that work for some fixtrue types, but not others. Is setting all related values for all related (type of) lights individually really the only way to create comprehensive colour presets? 'Cause that would suck... I feel like an idiot having to ask it after all this time, but has someone a full grasp of how the "global" and "same fixture" are really supposed to work? Because I thought I knew, and it turns out I apparently don't... _________________ Regards, DutchGuyDesign Erik Steijvers "I am not only the president of the giggling little bitches' club, I am also a member" http://www.dutchguydesign.com S3 M1 |

(GLOBAL)
I think and hope that they are fixing it finaly, even if it's a long time now! There is also a way to correct global presets anyway, just select the preset where you have your global colour, you will see the spot where it was originaly created lighting up,now select all the spots you have, press update preset, uncheck (view changes only ) so you can now see all the fixtures and update. |
