Has anyone noticed the problem that I am seeing, anytime you have over 20 or so steps in a clip synced to SMPTE you have issues? I have 4 clips with over 20 steps all synced and whenever I play them the code just jumps around like crazy. The code going into the desk is great and I have 20 other clips that are playing perfectly. The problem I see is only on the larger clips. Quite baffling.

I haven't ever seen that. Almost all my SMPTE synced clips are well over 100-200 steps and have never had a problem. I have had issues with the SMPTE signal not being strong enough in general but then the time jumps all over, but that happens even just watching the SMPTE input. I bump up the signal and no issues at all no matter the size of the clip.

That's strange, I was able to make them work once I deleted the step markers and got them to 20 or under. Any more than that and the playhead would jump around like crazy.
I also have an SR15+ next to me feeding the code and it reads fine. _________________ Ben Coleman Premier Production Services Harrisburg, PA T2/S1 |

I also have audio assigned to the clip. I wonder if that has anything to do with it too.

That has happened once or twice to me but I doubt it's the same problem because it has only happened when the timecode was stopped, go figure.
I don't think it has anything to do with the steps for me because I typically have a 100+ steps in my clips. It's weird that your problem is affected by the number of steps. _________________ Samuel Pendergrass Assistant Production Director High Desert Church |

are you running a lot of commands in your clips?

Nope, no commands. I was able to get the clips to play properly when I deleted the step markers and got them to 20 or under. I tried restarting the desk and everything else I could think of apart from rebuilding the clip. Maybe what I will do after this show is over is put back in a bunch of step markers and see if the problem comes back. I do have a nasty habit of putting lots of events in between step markers that on most other desks would be a cue in itself. I don't need the steps but having more makes jumping around to edit things easier.
