Tracking backup - Master & Slave Detection

Thu Mar 17, 2016 2:56 am

I have 2 computers which is running windows 10 operating system.
On connecting them via Ethernet hub, how does vista understand which of the computer is the master?

I had a instance recently where these two systems were wired through a Ethernet hub and on connection the slave system froze and didn't react to anything. Out of nowhere a box appeared and before I could read, it decided to become the master and my file on master system was overwritten with the slave system older file which had the same file name.

I decided to shut the entire system and restarted them. During my second attempt of tracking backup, it didn't ask anything but decided to make one system master and other system as slave on its own.

If I want vista to ask me whether I want this computer to be master or slave, how do i set it up?

Best wishes,

Hi Beck,
I would recommend reading Appendix 3. Page 16-1 of the 2.3 user manual. That section explains tracking backup in detail and how to connect slave consoles to the master. If you still have questions after reading through it, let us know.
