I think he means to see the fixture output visually on stage, not as a number.

In a theatrical play you often have many lights pointing to the same position, so you want to check quickly how much light is coming from a specific lamp. And you want to actually see it on stage.

As long as the Solo function is a Highlight Solo function, I don't think there is a way to do that.

it IS visual in the output view

I'm not sure of a console that does what you're looking for in terms of changing your actual stage output

The grandMA does exactly this. When you have solo on and you select a channel/fixture (or a range) it turns the intensity of ALL non-selected channels/fixtures to 0. ALL parameters of the selected fixtures remain as they are including effects, color, gobo, beam, etc. Much like on an audio console when you have the headphones on and you hit the "solo" button for a channel. You only hear that channel and all the effects and tweaks to it.

It's very helpful to see what any single light is doing at any point in time.

Hi all, thanks for your suggestions.
Because of the feedback we are contemplating changing the hi-lite solo function to just solo.

The new behaviour would be;

Hi-lite - selected fixture goes to highlight preset (by default, intensity @ 100, colour @ o/w), others go to lowlight preset (by default, empty).
Solo - selected fixture unaffected, others go to zero intensity (or lowlight preset if not empty)
Highlight + Solo together - selected fixture goes to highlight preset, others go to zero intensity (or lowlight preset if not empty)

If anyone has any objections, let us know.

To make sure i'm tracking...the hi-lite feature itself wouldn't change (other fixtures basically unaffected) but the addition of the Solo feature would allow these other requests, right?

I think the current method is still valid when you're working on a show during a rehearsal or something when others in the venue are depending upon the rest of the lights in their current state.

Yup! That's the exact functionality I'm looking for. That's the way it works on my MA and it's SUPER helpful.

Thanks guys!!

To me it looks as if Highlight and Highlight+Solo are doing the same thing. I do adjust the lowlight preset to be something like fixtures to blue. If that is the case I would almost rather have Solo ignore the LL preset and send everything else to zero. That way Highlight send unselected to lowlight and Highlight+Solo sends everything not selected to zero.

Hi-lite would remain the same as it currently is.

Would anyone else not want unselected fixtures to go to the lowlight preset? when using Solo? If we did this, any you used HL + Solo together, then there would be no way to keep other fixtures at say a glow for safety when using the Solo function.

Ahh, wait, I think I missed something here, selected vs. unselected. In my mind there are 3 levels of fixtures, selected, selected active (single fixture in selection) and unselected.

Hi-lite - selected (active) fixture goes to highlight preset (by default, intensity @ 100, colour @ o/w), others (selected) go to lowlight preset (by default, empty). Unselected fixtures, no change.

Solo - selected (active) fixture unaffected, others (un/selected) go to zero intensity (or lowlight preset if not empty)

Highlight + Solo together - selected (active) fixture goes to highlight preset, others (un/selected) go to zero intensity (or lowlight preset if not empty)

This makes more sense to me if this is what was being proposed.
