Post "Rising" beams MA2 effect
I can always tell there's an MA console running a show when I see that awesome "rising" beam effect. I would love to see this as a simple option in the Smart FX window. I've tried to recreate it a few times, and even when I set it to restart and adjust the offset, it's still not guaranteed to start correctly 100% of the time.

On that note, it could probably replace one of the lesser-used effect options, such as the square or triangle or spiral.

I really only find myself using the circle, line, and figure 8 options.

might have to see a video to know for certain but can't you just do that in a cuelist w/ start and stop points w/ the right amount of time?

I've managed to do it before with a cuelist, and using the smart fx method. Point is, it's still a huge pain in the ass.

If you mean where you see the lights tilt up but as they tilt down to reset they are blacked out again, this is actually easier to do on Vista than MA. Create a position tilt effect (sawtooth shape if you like so the down tilt is faster) then in the advanced tab add an intensity swing effect with step 1 at 0% and 2 at FL. Adjust the curves to suit and go back to the advanced tab and slide the two waveforms to get the effect you're after.

Yeah... Even with those instructions I'm still having an extremely difficult time with it. Still not getting the look I'm after. Could you send me a demo showfile with this effect applied to, like 8 101's?

(I also tried playing with the rate multipliers, beats for the swing effect, waveforms, curves, but couldn't get the right result)

Here's a showfile with the effect created with not much effort as described.

If you want the lights to fade up as they rise, change the curve on the FULL step of the intensity tab to linear.

If you want to stagger the beams randomly or by grouping / blocking, you can do all that on the sequence tab without changing the rising effect.
